HIV/AIDS Crisis in Zambia's Children

Writer's picture: Laura HietalaLaura Hietala

While the number of new HIV infections is steadily declining, HIV/AIDS is still the leading cause of death in Zambia.

Last week, we visited a primary school in the compound for HIV/AIDS-impacted children. The students who attend are either HIV-positive, or are single- or double-orphans whose parent(s) died from HIV/AIDS.

These sweet children all come from very difficult homes (the stories are heartbreaking), but at school, they are safe and secure in a loving, Christ-centered environment. They also receive two nutritious meals a day and a school uniform to wear, which is a huge blessing for them.

I’m so anxious to return soon and pour more love on these children. Please continue to pray for the children of Zambia.
