“As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” - Romans 10:15
At church last week, there were a group of pre-teen and teen girls who came from the streets. I always love when they visit because it’s an opportunity for Elise and I to connect with them and build relationships. They are always so eager and excited to talk to us and share their stories.
I noticed that two girls were sharing one pair of sandals - and they walked miles/hours like that to get to our property. Without even thinking, I took my flats off and put them on their feet. (Praise God that our feet were essentially the same size!)
Much to my surprise, they immediately started laughing. They said they had never seen “someone like me” walking barefoot in public without shoes! They couldn’t believe that I was not only ok with going home shoeless, but I was happy to do it.
Sweet friends, please remember that the actions we take to serve others and share the Gospel are so, so important. No matter how big or small the action, God will use it to stir the hearts of the recipient. And - God calls us to answer needs as they arise and we are able!
“But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?”
- 1 John 3:17
